Be prepared- 2011 election?

25 Apr

Election 2011? Does Dave want a divorce?

First of all, I hope you all had a great easter in the sunshine and I’d like to thank you for spreading the word on my previous post, my poetic plea to Cameron. I really do appreciate it.

I was originally going to refrain from posting today, but as ever, I found a really interesting post on LabourList which I feel I must pass judgement on. In the post- http://www.labourlist.org/a-2011-election-is-highly-unlikely—but-miliband-should-be-read , Mark ferguson states that with the recent cracks emerging in the coalition over the AV vote and Huhne’s public criticism, a possible 2011 election may be possible, however unlikely.

Stating that whilst realistically there may not be an election as Clegg would try to hold on as long as possible, and such an election result as last time may endanger Cameron, he states that maybe Cameron may risk it in order to gain a majority. However, he states that whilst a 2011 election” seems unlikely… that isn’t the mindset that Ed Miliband should be adopting,” and this is something that I agree with. As the scouts always say, “be prepared” and I think Ed needs to start making plans for this eventuality, create a clearer sense of his idea of an alternative. WE MUST ALL BE READY, as however unlikely this may be, stranger things have happened, haven’t they…..

Be prepared my troops,

For war may erupt without warning,

From the darkness, a new sun may be dawning.

Be prepared, my comrades,

For they tear themselves assunder,

Can you see the clouds, can you hear the thunder?

for this may not be the apocalypse, yet ready me must be,

For in the darkness, show the people the light should we,

Show them a better way, open their eyes to see.

For they may not come, they may not advance,

Yet be prepared my brothers, don’t miss our chance!

Challenging the myth- this scapegoat speaks out!

11 Apr

A year passes,

It seems an eternity since love in the garden,

Since the selling of souls, the bitter kiss,

A year passes,

Still the spout their lies,

A toxin, like a cobra they inject,

Relentlessly with the megaphone, the printing press their message they infect.

A sickness, this myth takes hold like a fever,

Infecting the mind, all but the ardent believer.

Sick of being the scapegoat are we,

Put down the knife, the ills of the world cannot be laid at thee.

Expose your lies, speak out with passion shall we!

This poem a reaction to the article on labourlist http://www.labourlist.org/strangling-the-lie , by Emily Thornberry MP, in which she states that “we need to challenge their lie so that we can confidently assert that there is an alternative to slashing public spending. And that the alternative is us.” Wise fiery words and ones I agree with and as part of my REVOLUTION OF THE MIND, I welcome any challenges to the hegomonic narrative that all too often is fed to us. The cuts of this incompetent government as we all know are ideologically driven and thus the blame can no longer be placed soley at our door. With great power comes great responsiblity Cameron! This scapegoat will take the blame no longer!

Movement for Change- keep the torch burning!

11 Oct

On Labourlist today http://www.labourlist.org/labour-must-mainstream-the-movement-for-change , a blog has called for Labour to mainstream Movement for Change.

The blog’s author Michael Payne states that Labour must “remember its roots and build an active movement; a movement that builds on the infrastructure already put in place by David Miliband and doesn’t attempt to reinvent the wheel,” and that Ed Miliband must “ensure that the ‘new generation’ of Labour leadership is supportive of the ‘Movement for Change’ and doesn’t believe that change is simply brought about by changing policies or changing rhetoric.”

I agree, and I do hope Movement for Change does get the support from the party that Ed Miliband promised at the Movement for Change rally. As someone associated with Movement for Change, I praise the initiative as a way of reaching out and empowering people like me in order to make a difference in their communities. I praise David Miliband, without his vision and investment, it may never have happened. Lets hope the “new generation” keeps the torch burning!

BACK TO OUR ROOTS

Back to our roots,

Back to our legacy,

Our legacy for wanting more,

More than the life given to us,

More for those oppressed.

We gain a voice,

To speak loud and proud,

Speak for what is right,

Speak without fear for we are many,

Many not in a rapacious horde,

Many united as one machine,

One heart, One energy, ONE!
