The Power and the Passion
Power and passion always seem to be intertwined. One feeds the other and feeds off the other. Symbiosis, one cannot hope to survive without the other. Whatever you do, never lose your passion, for a deed done without passion, power gained without the original fire of passion is meaningless and seems hollow.
My latest work ‘The Power and the Passion’ explores those two concepts through poetry. From the romance of the first glance, to power and those that abuse it. From outrage at endless fighting to a hope of eventual peace, this work also asks what it means to be human.
Power
You think it’s glorious, you think it’s sweet,
To stand high above while the world lies at your feet?
That is not power.
You think it a commodity to acquire,
You crave it, your heart’s desire,
But desire to act you do not.
To speak out for those who have faith you do not,
For you it’s about position, naked ambition,
That is not power.
Power should enable, enable action,
For power is the power to take decision,
To take action, the courage to make a stand,
Now that is true power!
